A Mission Statement for Christian Families

Family Mission

We are a Christian family rooted and grounded in love. We understand that God has brought us together so He is the focus and we are committed to serving Him with our whole hearts. We put God first. We trust and believe in Him for we know that He is in control. As a family, each of us as an individual is different but we each have a specific purpose designed for the benefit of this family, just like the parts of the body, each part of the body although different has a specific purpose for the benefit of the body. We pray for each other and with each other. We pray together, love together and fight together. Like the links in a chain, we are bound together.

Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate. Mark 10:9

As parents we provide the leadership of this family. We create a physical and emotional shelter for our family. We promise to provide, protect and nurture the children in this family as part of the love we give. We are committed to giving direction and guidance to the children in this family. We understand that we are the most important teachers in their lives, they learn by not only what we say but by what we do. We set the standards because we are the example. We know that this will not be an easy task but as parents, we are committed to taking care of the children God has entrusted us with. We know that each child is an individual and uniquely special but all are equally loved.

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

As children, we have a responsibility to serve God and our parents, for we know that they are training us in the direction that we will go. We know that there are consequences to all of our actions and we agree to take responsibility for our own actions. We have respect for our family and we speak to each other in kindness.

Honor your father and your mother that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12

As a family, we have a responsibility to God to be the best that we can be. We know that God does not require us to be perfect but we will be better. We accept everyone as they are but we encourage change and growth for the better. We speak to one another with respect and show consideration at all times. We act both, individually and as a family, with integrity and do the right thing even when it is not an easy thing to do. We are committed to love and grow together. We know that we can impact each other and our community for the better.

As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
